Team Risqué Sweeps ATQMRA Competition
Deritis in the 66 TQ and Cicconi in the 66 Micro Sprint
 
 
 
 
Chris Deritis started from the pole and went on to victory in the ATQMRA A main at Sundance Speedway for his third consecutive victory at the track dating back to the end of the 08 season. 
Frank Fischer charged to a close second with Tim Behmer third.  Liquid Lou Cicconi won the 600 Micro Sprint portion of the race finishing fifth overall. 
 
By the luck of the draw, Paul Lotier Jr. started from the pole in the first heat race.  Lotier jumped out front and led the entire way to record the heat race victory.  In second was a hard charging Mike Tidaback followed by Ian Cumens Liquid Lou Cicconi Tim Behmer Alison Cumens and Jason Hentrich.
 

The second heat was won from the pole as well with Deritis leading the distance and recording the fastest lap of the day in the Team Risqué Dart lapping the third mile oval in 12.961seconds at an average speed of 92.585 MPH.  Frank Fischer finished second followed by Matt Janisch, Don Adams, Kunkle, and Jeff Kot.

 
After winning their heat races, Chris Deritis and Paul Lotier, Jr. shared the front row for the start of the 25-lap TQ Midget main event.  Deritis got off to a great start and Lotier settled in to second. Ian Cummins held fourth, followed by Paul Kunkle in the Metz 46. 
 
Lotier was forced to retire from the event when his car stalled on the speedway during a lap eight restart. Green flag racing resumed and Frank Fischer worked his way into second. Tim Behmer, Kunkle and Lou Cicconi followed close behind.
 
Despite several attempts from Fischer, Deritis held on and notched his second straight win this season. He also won his last race of the 2008 season making it three straight at the track.
 
Fischer finished second, followed by Behmer, Kunkle and Cicconi.
 
Cicconi Started the feature from the 17th starting position and was the hard charger of the race winning the Micro Sprint class and finished fifth overall in the second Team Risqué 66 car making it a clean sweep for Team Risqué.  Mark Janisch was second in the Ted Jones 14.
 
ATQMRA News and Notes:       The ATQMRA signed 19 cars into the pits for the event bringing the largest car count at Sundance.  Cicconi Tested an innovative new car he designed and constructed for a Casey’s Lancaster team.  After testing on Friday Bill Murphy had his 84 Micro Sprint ready for competition but engine trouble ended his day in practice.  Mike Iles tested his Providence Indoor race winning Micro Sprint on Friday but raced his modified Saturday night.    Chris Deritis leads the driver and car point’s standings with a perfect 200 points but will miss the next race to make his NEMA debut in the Chris Derosier Midget.  Mark Janisch leads the Micro Sprint points.  With 2 throw away races the points standings are wide open.  Don Adams made his 09 debut in the Colin Martin 36 Spitfire driven at Providence by Mike Stefanik.  Matt Roselli had a rough ride in his heat flipping into the third turn wall.  The team made repairs and Roselli was able to notch top ten in the feature.
