Robin Johnston joined by second finishing Jeff Kot and Ian Cumens. Race winner Johnston and the entire top five finishers were powered by Duchak Racing Engines.

Saturday June 5 2010 Sundance Vacation Speedway, Hazleton, Pa.

Robin Johnston of Wayne, Pa raced from his sixth starting position to take the feature win at Sundance Vacation Speedway at the Evergreen Raceway Reunion in front of a packed grandstand.  Frank Fischer of Flemington, NJ  and Johnston earned heat race victories.  Next up for the ATQMRA is a trip to Wall Stadium for the Annual Tony Romit Memorial on Saturday June 26th to honor the memory of one of the ATQMRA's all time greats.

Jeff Kot of Doylestown, Pa  and Matt Roselli of Brodheadsville, Pa brought the ATQMRA to the green flag for the feature event with Kot jumping out to the advantage with Alison Cumens of Happy Valley, Pa in tow.  Kot opened up a slight lead over the defending ATQMRA Champion Alison Cumens before Johnston took over second and began to apply pressure.  The ever consisntent Kot held his line and appeared poised to win his first ATQMRA feature event when a lap 21 caution for a spinning Chad Jones of Ottsville, Pa tightened up the field.

On the ensuing restart Kot once again maintained his lead.  Ian Cumens of Lindell, Pa moved into the third position and took to the high side of Johnston.  That showed Johnston there was rubber on the high side and Johnston moved up the track and was able to complete the pass of Kot on the 22nd circuit.

Johnston was followed across the line by Kot, Ian Cumens, Alison Cumens, with Matt Janisch of Nazareth, Pa rounding out the top five.  Each car in the top five were powered by Duchak Racing Engines.  Interrestingly four different chassis configurations comprised the top five.  Johnston won in a home built creation with a beam axle followed by Kot in a Lindblad Badger with an independant front suspension.  The Cumens' were running Spitfire Chassis with beam axles up front and Janisch was running a Reider Chassis with a beam axle.

ATQMRA News and Notes:   ATQMRA President Mike Roselli just received word from Mike Osite that his beloved father Sal has passed away.  Sal was a fixture whenever Mike was racing and was always in attendance at Pinebrook Speedway.  It was always a pleasure to see Sal accompany Mike to the indoor races he frequented in the winter.  His presence will truly be missed.  The ATQMRA and its membership extend their condolences to the family.

The Fast lap of the day was posted by Ian Cumens in the Cumens family 79 with a lap of 12.751 seconds at 94.109 MPH.  The ATQMRA competitors signed autographs, had kids sit in their cars, and handed out Area Auto Racing News Papers to the fans in attendance during the crowded on track fan fest prior to the feature.  Matt Janisch raced the Joe Csernak Metz Racing F8 to a fine fifth place finish in the feature leaving the seat of the 48 he used to win three races at Sundance in 09 as a result of engine whoas.  Chris DeRitis made his season debut with the ATQMRA in the Cicconi Chassis 66 he set fast time with at Boardwalk Hall.

Frank Fischer and Robin Johnston earned heat race victories.
