Adams Wins the Marko Radiator ATQMRA King of the Mountain

Don Adams with car owner Alan Mollot and engine builder Peter Duchak.

23 cars took to the track at Mountain Speedway for the annual King of the Mountain racing action at Mountain Speedway near Hazleton, Pa. with Don Adams making his second two win weekend sweep of the season.

The first heat race was won by ATQMRA Pinebrook veteran Rudy Boetticher Jr. who overtook Richie Coy for the lead before the third lap was completed to take the popular win over a hard charging Ryan Tidman, invading Can-Am racer Lucas Smith Richie Coy and Don Adams.  Scott Campbell flipped his mount while running third in the heat ending quest to be King of the Mountain.

The second Marko Radiator heat race was won in dominant fashion by Jeff Kot who earned his first career checkered flag with the ATQMRA by outdistancing hard charging Matt Roselli, Zack Martini, Paul Lotier Jr. and Mike Tidaback.

Jeff Kot went from the pole in the Marko Radiator ATQMRA King of the Mountain feature event.  Kot moved out to a commanding lead across the first ten laps and appeared to be the class of the field when a wing failure dropped him to a fourth place finish.  ATQMRA and Mountain Speedway 2008 Champion Ryan Tidman took the lead in the Jim Peruto Keenan Motors Dart on lap 11.  Tidman looked to be on his way to another victory before a hard charging Adams got his shot at the lead on a lap 23 restart.  Adams anticipated the Kyle MacGowan green flag and was able to get the jump on Tidman to take the lead and the victory in the ATQMRA Marko Radiator King of the Mountain.

Tidman’s second place finish was enough to secure his second consecutive Mountain
Speedway Track championship with the ATQMRA.

ATQMRA News and Notes: Three invaders from the Can-Am Three Quarter Midget organization made the trip to both Chemung Speedrome on Saturday and Mountain on Sunday.  Lucas Smith JR Fitzpatrick, and Can-Am Champion Daniel Bois made the haul from Southern Ontario to compete.  Joe Payne Sr. who was injured in a pit side incident is at home and a little sore but otherwise in good spirits.
