Adams wins Mountain in Spitfire

Alison Cumins won both of her heats on the weekend.  Winning one in Pennsylvania at Mountain Speedway and then at Flamboro Ontario Canada in an open race with the Can Am Midgets in an open race.

Don Adams in the Spitfire House Car charged from eighth starting position to assume command on lap 15 when Matt Janisch crashed hard into the third turn fence.

Janisch assumed command from his outside pole position on the initial start.  Adams worked his way to second position by lap 3 to challenge for the lead.  As a result of a lap three caution brought out by a spinning between Robin Johnston and Scott Campbell, Adams and Janisch had the front row for a drag race into the first turn with Janisch maintaining his advantage.

A red flag came out on lap five for a multi car tangle that took out top points contenders Chris "Tyro" Deritis and Ryan Tidman, Jeff Kot, and Tim Proctor that was keyed by a spinning Jeff Kot.

On the ensuing restart Adams made a hard charge on Janisch only to have Janisch move back into the lead.  Janisch stayed in command until lap 14 when a suspension failure caused hard contact with the turn three wall.

Adams took the point for the restart and went on to record the win over Frank Fischer and Zack Martini in third with Austin Fehr in fourth and Paul Lot
ier Jr. recorded a top five finish.

The first heat race was won by Alison Cumins.  She took advantage of her pole starting position to record her first ATQMRA heat race victory.

Mike Tidaback won the second heat race while Matt Janisch ran the fastest lap of the day and won the third heat.

DON ADAMS WINS TQ 'OPEN' RACE

The Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets hosted an "Open Invitational' race Sunday night at Flamboro Speedway (Ont, Canada) and the winner was Don Adams from Robbinsville, New Jersey. Driving the Spitfire Racing TQ #26, owned by Colin Martin, Adams took the lead on lap 2, lapping half the field before the green to checkered finish.
Zack Martini, driving for ATQMRA President Blu Metz finished second and Rookie Mackie DeMan driving for Lucas Oil Can-Am Midget owner Craig Mackereth finished third.

This "Open Invitational" was an attempt to bring together different TQ Midget groups for a fun event, no points, "let's work together" attitude. Along with the host Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets and the ATQMRA club there were a number of cars from the Lancaster/Casey's series from Western New York.

Can-Am President Ken Lorenz said "I am very pleased with the turnout, it went better than expected. We are already having talks with the other groups to make this an annual event. Green to checkered with a varity of different midgets was exciting for the fans to watch. The top ten finishers were an even mix of Can-Am cars and the visitors. You couldn't ask for anything better than that."

Heat #1 was won by Adams and Heat #2 was taken by Rookie, 17 year old, Alison Cumens from Doylestown, PA, with the ATQMRA. The "B" Feature was won by David Balych of the Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets.
